Ever since I started using Pinterest I have been very inspired to cook fun new things, so I decided I would share my "Adventures in the kitchen" with you all! If you decide to make any of these recipes let me know how it goes and if you changed anything that made it taste even better!
Buffalo Chicken Garbage Bread
Click here to find out how to make this delicious garbage bread.
Cheesy Chicken Roll ups
These were good, although I didn't have onion powder or garlic powder, but I did have garlic salt so I used that and they were pretty salty so next time I'll use garlic powder instead or just a little less garlic salt. Also I might add a little more milk to the filling. Click here to see the recipe.
Frozen Breakfast Burritos
These burritos make it easy to have a fast and delicious breakfast in the morning. Once you make them all you have to do is grab one out of the freezer and throw it in the microwave! This will be great to have when we have kids on busy school day mornings. Click here to see the original recipe.
No Bake Cookies
These cookies are so addicting and they only take like 5 minutes to make. I'm sad to say my husband I finished every last one of them in just two days. Click here for the recipe.
Real Simple Scalloped Potatos
This was good, but not as good as I was expecting. We used half and half instead of heavy cream and skim milk instead of whole, just to save a few calories. We also used Cheddar instead of Gruyere cheese, and no bay leaf. you can find the recipe for these scalloped potatoes here.
Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Chicken Dip:
I have made this recipe about 5 times and it is so good and so easy to make! It's a great dip for parties, unless you're friends with a bunch of vegetarians (like me). It was so delicious I forgot to take a picture until we had eaten over half of it. Here's a picture of our left-overs microwaved.
Biscuit Top Chicken Stew (similar to Chicken Potpie):
I got the recipe from my mom and it was fantastic, we finished the whole thing off for dinner!
You will need:
-2 TBS butter
-About 4 chicken breasts cut into bite size pieces
-Lawry's Salt and Pepper
-12 oz can evaporated milk
-12 oz can cream of chicken soup
-16 oz bag of frozen veggies
-1/2 diced yellow onion
-1 can of biscuits
Preheat oven to 350. Melt butter in saucepan and add onion and chicken. Season with Lawry's Salt and pepper. Once chicken is cooked through add evaporated milk, cream of chicken soup, and frozen veggies and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour Stew into a casserole dish top with the biscuits. Cook at 350 for 15-20 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown.
Bourbon Chicken
So delicious and so easy to make! You basically mix the ingredients together, brown the chicken, and then mix it all together mmm mmm good! I will definitely be making this again soon and you should too. Here's the recipe.
Nutella Hot Chocolate:
This is one of the recipes I found on pinterest. It's good, it's easy, and it only requires two ingredients: nutella and milk. The only thing I would change next time I make this is to add maybe 2.5 tablespoons of Nutella instead of 3. You can find the recipe here.
Pillsbury Apple Pie
This recipe came recommended by my mom. It's the recipe off of the refridgerated pillsbury roll out pie crust. It is simple, and I had all the ingredients on hand other than apples and the crust. I wouldn't change a thing about it! When eating left overs that are no longer hot, I recommend microwaving a slice for about 20 seconds and then adding vanilla ice cream. For this recipe click here.
Crock Pot Orange Chicken
After reading the comments on this recipe it looks like most people thought it was good, but needed to be adjusted a bit. So I went ahead and took their advice. I added 1 tsp soy souce, 1 tsp minced garlic, 1/2 tsp sesame oil, a dash of crushed red pepper, and 3.5 oz of orange juice concentrate instead of 6. I'm not much of an orange chicken person, so I thought it was a little overly orangy. Next time I might put it 1.5 oz of the orange juice concentrate instead. I would probably make the sweet and sour chicken (scroll down for recipe) over this recipe, but if you do like orange chicken it's great! Recipe here.
Chai Shake
This was pretty good. I used chai concentrate and felt very caffeinated, which is crazy because chai tea never makes me feel caffeinated at all, so next time I'll probably use a little less of the chai concentrate. Otherwise the recipe was great. Click here to find out how you make it.
Hasselback Potatoes
Here is the delicous looking potato I was going for:
Here is what I ended up with:
I definitely think theirs tasted better. I'm not sure what exactly went wrong, my only guess is that I should have spread the slices out more to make sure the butter/olive oil seeped in. Next time I would probably add a bit more seasoning and bake it longer. Here's the recipe I used: Hasselback Potatoes.
Delicious Blueberry Breakfast Cake
Everything turned out perfect, I wouldn't change a thing about this recipe. check it out here.
Homemade Pizza
This pizza turned out really well. I got the recipe for the pizza dough from a blog and then just added spaghetti sauce in place of pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella, pepperonis, chopped green chiles and Pizza Seasoning. The dough was a lot of work to make, but there was enough to freeze for later. The only thing I will change next time is to have my husband roll out the dough, he's better at it and get's a much thinner crust, which we prefer. For the pizza dough recipe just click here.
RealSimple's Curry Chicken
This was pretty easy to make and surprisingly better the second day for left overs because it thickened up a bit. Before making it I read the comments under the recipe and changed a few things according to what people were saying. Instead of heavy cream I used coconut milk and increased it to one cup (I'd stick with 3/4 cup in the future), I added an extra teaspoon of curry powder, and i added a dash of paprika to spice it up a bit. I also added only about 1/2 onion because that's all I had on hand at the time. I'd definitely use a whole one next time, I think it would help to make it less soupy. Click here for the recipe.
Pecan and Chocolate Chip Blondies
The only thing I changed about this recipe was to use pecans instead of walnuts and to mix in the chocolate chips instead of put them just on top and it was delicious. I also saw one of the people commented that you can make it in cookie form as well with the exact same batter. Check out the recipe here.
Krysta's Famous Mac n' Cheese
In college my friend Krysta and I would make this recipe every time she came to visit, it became our little tradition. The Texas Toast came straight out of the freezer section at Kroger. Here is the mac n' cheese recipe:
Ingredients:
1 can cream of chicken soup
3/4 of same can filled with milk
1 bag of shredded cheddar cheese (2 cups)
salt and pepper to taste
Mix together all of the ingredients, pour into a 9''x13'' pan and bake at 400 F for 25 minutes or until it is bubbly and golden brown on top.
Better Than Take Out Sweet and Sour Chicken and Fried Rice
This has probably been my husband's favorite meal I've ever made, and I must say it was quite delicious! I would definitely recommend it. The only thing I changed from the recipe is the portion of fried rice and the only vegie I had on hand to add to it was peas, it still tasted great though. Check out the recipe here.
